European Oak Flooring
European Oak is the defining species of the Residence Supply hardwood program, featured across four of our five engineered collections and representing the broadest selection in the lineup. Known for its tight uniform grain, predictable stain acceptance, and timeless versatility across interior styles, European Oak is the species designers and homeowners reach for when they want a hardwood floor that works across modern, transitional, Scandinavian, and traditional palettes alike.
Every European Oak product in the program features a genuine real-wood top veneer bonded to a multi-layer engineered core. The construction delivers the authentic appearance and tactile character of solid oak with the dimensional stability required for installation over concrete slabs in subtropical climates.
Why European Oak
European Oak's grain pattern is cleaner and more uniform than American White Oak, with a slightly cooler base color that accepts stain more predictably. That predictability is why so much of our color palette is built on European Oak: the species can be finished in light natural tones, warm honey shades, sophisticated greiges, dramatic dark stains, and coastal grays without color variation board-to-board fighting the design intent.
Available in Four Veneer Thicknesses
- 1mm — The Sierra Collection. Entry tier with eight color options across Standard and Premium Grade.
- 2mm — The Westvale Collection. Mid-entry tier with five European Oak patterns.
- 4mm sawn — The Aurelia Collection. Premium tier with widths from 7.5 inches up to 10.25 inches, in Light Rustic and Select grades.
- 6mm sawn — The Belmont Collection. Top tier with the thickest veneer in the program.
Refinishing and Long-Term Value
Veneer thickness directly determines refinishing potential. The Aurelia Collection's 4mm veneer supports two to three professional sandings. The Belmont Collection's 6mm veneer supports approximately three. The Sierra and Westvale collections support screen-and-recoat refresh.
Where European Oak Works
European Oak suits primary residential spaces — living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, kitchens, hallways, offices — and pairs effortlessly with stone, plaster, linen, warm metals, and layered neutral interiors. The species is appropriate for designer-led whole-home projects, light commercial installations, and forever-home purchases at the premium and top tiers.
