FAQ

Questions, Answered.

What collections feature European Oak?

European Oak appears across our entry, mid, premium, and top tiers: Sierra (1mm veneer), Westvale (2mm), Aurelia (4mm wide-plank, the largest format range), and Belmont (6mm, the thickest veneer in the program).

Why is European Oak the dominant species in our hardwood program?

European Oak's clean, calm grain pattern works across modern, transitional, Scandinavian, minimalist, and high-end traditional interiors. It also stains cleanly into a wide palette of light, warm, gray, and dark tones.

How is European Oak different from American Oak?

European Oak has a tighter, more uniform grain and slightly cooler base color than American Oak. It accepts stain more predictably, which is why most of the color palette across our hardwood program is built on European Oak.

Can European Oak be installed in a kitchen?

Yes. Engineered European Oak is suitable for kitchens with normal hardwood care. Wipe spills promptly and use rugs at the sink area. For very wet kitchens, consider waterproof vinyl or laminate instead.

Is European Oak harder than American Hickory?

American Hickory is harder than European Oak on the Janka scale. Hickory's pronounced grain also hides minor wear better than smoother oak. That said, all hardwood floors will scratch from sand under shoes; finish care matters more than species hardness.

What veneer thicknesses are available in European Oak?

Four thicknesses: 1mm (Sierra), 2mm (Westvale), 4mm sawn (Aurelia), and 6mm sawn (Belmont). The thicker the veneer, the more refinishing potential over the life of the floor.

Can European Oak be sanded and refinished?

Depends on the veneer. 4mm Aurelia supports two to three refinishes; 6mm Belmont supports approximately three. 1mm Sierra and 2mm Westvale are too thin to sand but support screen-and-recoat refresh.

What plank sizes are available in European Oak?

Plank widths range from 6.25 inches (Sierra, Westvale) up to 10.25 inches (Aurelia Widest). Lengths run from 76 inches through 88 inches. Belmont also offers a 9-inch by 84-inch wide-and-long format.

What grades of European Oak do you offer?

Sierra is available in Standard and Premium Grade. Westvale is Standard. Aurelia comes in Light Rustic (most patterns) and Select (Elowen, Ivory). Belmont is designer-curated.

How do I care for a European Oak floor?

Sweep regularly to remove sand and grit. Use a hardwood-specific cleaner for deeper cleaning. Never wet-mop or use steam. Wipe spills promptly, use felt pads under furniture, and place rugs at high-wear entry points.

About European Oak Flooring

European Oak Flooring: Premium Engineered Hardwood Flooring Product Guide

Standard narrow floor boards look busy. They clutter up a room with an excess of distracting joint lines. Installing a premium European oak flooring layout fixes this design limitation immediately. Choosing genuine European oak provides a stable foundation for your property. This gorgeous wood floor option showcases elegant natural grain patterns and a rich, organic character across every plank. Laying down a custom wide plank layout creates an uninterrupted visual. It beautifully transforms contemporary and traditional spaces into expansive, high-end environments.

Every homeowner wants a striking, durable surface. It must highlight subtle grain variations and easily handle daily traffic. High-quality engineered hardwood flooring options solve this problem completely. They bring timeless beauty and real luxury into your interior rooms. You might need a rustic aesthetic with visible knot formations. You might prefer clean, modern interiors with a uniform blonde tone. Either way, upgrading to a premium European oak engineered system turns an empty floor into a valuable architectural asset.

Specification and Exceptional Durability

You must look closely at product construction details before purchasing materials. European oak flooring is crafted to offer exceptional flexibility and strength compared to other domestic hardwood flooring options.

  • Tighter Grain Patterns: The tree grows slower in cooler European forest regions. This produces a dense wood structure with a subtle grain.
  • Dimensional Stability:The multi-layer cross-ply core locks the top wear layer flat. This engineered flooring construction prevents the wood from twisting when exposed to shifting indoor humidity. It is far more stable than solid wood.

This dense composition delivers exceptional durability. It resists a heavy dent or scuff better than standard red oak. The engineer builds a highly resistant product. It handles heavy foot traffic from pets and busy residential families easily.

Premium Tier Specification: The Aurelia and Belmont Collections

For designers and homeowners seeking the highest quality plank flooring, our program offers specific engineered hardwood flooring lines built for a long-term restoration path:

  • The Aurelia Collection: Features a premium 4mm sawnEuropean Oak wear layer. This line specializes in wide-plank options that measure up to 10.25 inches wide, creating luxurious visual interest.
  • The Belmont Collection:Built with a top tier 6mm sawn veneer thickness. This line offers the thickest profile in the program, matching the refinishing lifespan of solid planks.
Top Wear Layer: Genuine European Oak (Up to 6mm Sawn) Engineered Core: Multi-Layer Cross-Ply Timber Base

A thicker 4mm or 6mm real wood top layer ensures your investment remains sustainable. If the surface accumulates deep scratch marks over decades of use, an installer can safely sand and refinish the wood veneer multiple times without replacing the core. It supports 2-3 full sandings easily.

Versatile Aesthetics Across Modern Interiors

The timeless appeal of an European oak engineered floor lies in its unique color versatility. The natural light hue of the timber acts as a blank canvas, absorbing a variety of stains and finishes perfectly.

  • Fumed and Smoked: Chemical processes react with natural tannins inside the oak. This draws out deep chocolate and charcoal tones that rival exotic walnut.
  • White Wash and Wire-Brushed:Highlights the rich grain patterns while muting the golden undertones. This style works beautifully in minimalist modern interiors and diverse interior styles.
  • Classic Honey Tones:Preserves the natural character and warmth of the living timber. It accentuates natural color variations and small knot details.
  • You can deploy these versatile planks in standard linear patterns. You can also choose a classic herringbone layout to add historic elegance to formal entryways and large living rooms.

    Simple Care and Long-Term Maintenance

Keeping your European oak flooring looking pristine requires minimal effort. Protecting the factory finish from abrasive grit ensures the timeless beauty lasts for generations.

    • Perform regular sweeping or dry vacuuming daily using a soft floor attachment to remove dirt and debris.
    • Wipe up any sudden liquid spill fast to prevent moisture from creeping deep into the plank joints.
    • Mop the floor weekly using a damp microfiber pad and a dedicated hardwood flooring cleaner.
    • Never use harsh steam mops, saturated string mops, or ammonia cleaners that dull the clear top layer.
    • Choosing a certified, sustainable product guarantees excellent long-term performance. Following this straightforward maintenance routine ensures your European oak engineered layout retains its premium look, delivering unmatched value and warmth to your home.
