        Installation Guide

        Details

        Mounting Options:
Door hinges are designed for installation on the door edge and the corresponding frame. Placement and method depend on hinge type.

        Tools You May Need
        • Screwdriver (Phillips or flathead)
        • Drill and drill bits
        • Chisel (for mortising)
        • Screws
        • Tape measure and pencil
        • Level or square
        • Hammer and mallet
        A. Mortise Hinges

        Step 1: Mark Placement

Measure and mark hinge positions on the door edge. Standard placement is:

        • Top hinge: 5–7 inches from the top of the door.
        • Bottom hinge: 10–12 inches from the bottom.
        • Third hinge (if used): centered between top and bottom.

Step 2: Mortise the Door and Frame

Trace the hinge outline. Chisel shallow recesses into the door edge and frame so the hinge leaf sits flush.

        Step 3: Pre-Drill Screw Holes

Place the hinge in the mortise, mark screw locations, and drill pilot holes.

        Step 4: Attach Hinges

Screw one leaf of each hinge to the door edge. Position the door in the frame and secure the other hinge leaf to the jamb.

        Step 5: Test Door Swing

Open and close the door to ensure smooth movement. Adjust screws if necessary.

        B. Concealed Hinges

Step 1: Mark and Cut Recess

Mark hinge placement on both the door edge and the frame. Use a router or chisel to cut recesses deep enough to house the concealed hinge body.

        Step 2: Position and Pre-Drill

Insert the hinge body into the recess, align flush with the surface, and mark screw holes. Drill pilot holes.

        Step 3: Attach Hinges

Secure the hinge body into both the door and the frame using provided screws. Ensure full seating for proper alignment.

        Step 4: Adjust Alignment

Most concealed hinges include adjustment screws. Use these to fine-tune door alignment vertically and horizontally.

        Step 5: Test Operation

Open and close the door fully to confirm smooth, quiet motion without rubbing or binding.

        Important Tips
        • Always mark hinge locations carefully before cutting or drilling.
        • Mortising ensures hinges sit flush and the door closes properly.
        • Use a level to check vertical alignment.
        • For heavy doors, use at least three hinges.
        • Periodically tighten screws to maintain performance.
