Waterproof Flooring
Waterproof flooring is the modern answer for active homes, wet rooms, and commercial spaces where moisture, spills, and humidity are part of daily life. The Residence Supply waterproof program — built on three carefully calibrated collections — delivers full waterproof performance from the surface, a 20-mil ceramic-enhanced urethane wear layer, and floating click-lock installation that goes dramatically faster than traditional hardwood.
What Waterproof Actually Means
All three collections use a plank core that does not absorb water. The plank itself is unaffected by spills, mopping, pet accidents, humidity, and routine wet-room exposure. The honest qualifier: any floating floor — vinyl, laminate, or even glued hardwood with adhesive failure — can develop mold underneath if water gets there and stays. Day-to-day waterproof living is genuinely waterproof. Catastrophic flood events are an insurance scenario regardless of flooring choice.
The Three Waterproof Collections
- The Stillwater Collection – SPC. Rigid Stone Polymer Composite core. Hardest, most dimensionally stable. Value tier. Best for high-traffic wet rooms, active homes, and commercial applications.
- The Stillwater Collection – WPC. Wood-Plastic Composite core at 12mm thickness. Softer, warmer, and quieter underfoot than SPC. Comfort tier. Best for primary residences, bedrooms, living rooms, and upstairs installations.
- The Dune Collection. Premium 12mm waterproof construction with curated coastal palette. Design tier. Best for design-conscious whole-home waterproof installations, boutique hospitality, and coastal interiors.
The 20-Mil Standard
Every product in the program uses a 20-mil ceramic-enhanced urethane wear layer — the strongest residential and light-commercial spec in the industry. That supports a 10-year commercial warranty and approximately 25 years residential.
Where Waterproof Flooring Excels
Kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, mudrooms, entryways, and stairs all benefit from waterproof construction. Active homes with pets, children, and steady visitor traffic are also strong fits. For boutique commercial — retail, salons, professional offices, hospitality lobbies, front-of-house food service — the 20-mil wear layer supports light commercial use comfortably.
Fast Installation and Easy Repair
All three collections install as a floating click-lock floor over a 6mm polyfilm moisture barrier. A typical 1,000 square foot floor goes down in approximately one day. A floating floor can be partially disassembled and a damaged plank swapped in about an hour.
