American Black Walnut Flooring
American Black Walnut is the only naturally dark wood in the Residence Supply program. Deep, warm, chromatic, and rich straight from the tree, Walnut is the natural anchor for high-end traditional and transitional interiors at the top of the design market. Every other dark-tone option in our lineup is European Oak that has been stained; Walnut's color is the wood's actual color and does not fade or wear the way a stained surface can.
The Walnut offering in the program features Umbervale Walnut Flooring in The Hudson Collection, a Premium Grade engineered product with a 4mm sawn veneer over a multi-layer engineered core. The plank is 7.5 inches wide by 76 inches long with 23.31 square feet of coverage per box.
What Makes Walnut Special
Walnut's color depth comes from the tree itself. The chocolate-brown, warm-toned, slightly chromatic appearance you see in a sample is what the floor will look like in twenty years. That permanence is a meaningful difference from stained hardwood, where finish can wear unevenly and reveal lighter wood beneath if the stain is damaged.

Best-Fit Interiors
Walnut anchors high-end traditional and transitional interiors at the design market's premium end. Classic placements include libraries, formal dining rooms, primary suites, and paneled studies. Walnut also brings elegance to contemporary spaces that want a chromatic counterpoint to lighter walls and furniture.
Performance and Care
American Black Walnut rates approximately 1010 on the Janka hardness scale, slightly softer than European Oak at 1290. Dents from heavy point-loads can show, so we recommend felt pads under all furniture and rugs at heavy entry points. The 4mm Premium veneer supports two to three professional sandings over the life of the floor.
